Minty Fresh Baby Nursery

Mint, Peach, & Gold

Baby Nursery for Baby Girl #4

Scarlett is almost two, so I figure it's about time I post her nursery pics. I turned the room into my office a couple months ago, so now my little bundle of joy's baby room is just a sweet memory, and a beautiful place for me to work.
Having 4 kids has left me very little time or energy to do any blogging, but school is in full swing and my two higher maintenance girls are in school full day, so just maybe I can squeeze a little in.
When I was pregnant with my first baby, Penelope, we moved from Dallas to Tulsa and rented a condo until she was 9 months old. So, I never got to do a real nursery. I made her bedding, and she had everything for a nursery, but I was never able to paint or hang things, or make it a truly unique space.

When I was pregnant with my second, Phoebe, Penelope was still an infant and I was working full time until I was put on bed rest around 5 months. That left zero time to do a nursery... I had a total freak out sad moment a few weeks before she was born and threw together a plan for her room, which consisted of a bedroom in a bag by Cocalo, it was super cute, probably the best room in the house at that point. But, it was still wasn't well thought out, it was just as nice as I could make it stuck laying down on my sofa 24 hours a day (and this was before you could buy everything amazing online).
Baby #3, Sophia, she's my poor hand-me-down child. We passed Phoebe's nursery right on over to her, zero changes.
When I found out we were having our 4th girl, I INSISTED on doing a nursery even if I didn't have room to put her in! We turned our office/playroom into a room for our sweet little baby Scarlett, and I did it exactly like I wanted. No bed in bag, no cheesy themes, just pretty. Our budget was pretty much non-existent, so I had to get creative. I did things in little bits at a time, used a lot of stuff I already had, and shopped for treasures/steals. I absolutely adore this room, and it's as sweet as she is!
My sweet friend Lauren Paull did our NB photos, it was a lifestyle shoot, she got some beautiful photos of the room. If you are in the Tulsa area, I highly recommend Lauren Paull Photography for hospital birth photos (will save that for another post), and newborn photos. She does a fabulous job with the more traditional baby poses, but I adore her lifestyle photography!

Cheers to all the Mommas of 4!

Styled Bar Cart on a Budget of $100

Styled Bar Cart on a Budget

All the shiny, shimmery, and reflective surfaces of a bar cart just make me happy. It's often less about functionality, and more about style. I mean how often are you really using a bar cart!? While I'm sure they get used occasionally, and probably more often in kid-less homes, they sure are sparkly!

I have a small empty wall in my breakfast nook area, connected to my great room, and thought it was the perfect spot for a bar cart, something not made of wood, I've got too much wood in my house right now, I need some more surface variation! I did some online shopping and found exactly what I wanted, but it wasn't going to be in the budget anytime soon.

A couple weeks later, I was browsing through Tuesday Morning (currently my favorite store), and ran across this gold, mirrored tray table, for $49, SOLD! I shopped around for a few accessories to top it, I got a glass apothecary jar to hold paper straws for about $15, a small black and white ceramic bowl for lemons or corks, for less than $4, a white ceramic candle holder to hold bar tools, for about $7, and some fun printed cocktail recipe napkins in the clearance section for less than $2. I spent about $77 and had enough stuff make my little tray table look like a styled bar cart!

I raided our sparse liquor cabinet, and pulled out a few random, possibly empty bottles, that had a variation in color and shape. Found a set of glasses in my parents old bar cabinet, a set of glass coasters, bar tools, and a couple cocktail recipe books I had been gifted years ago. All of these old items were hidden in my pantry and cabinets, and now placed together with a few new items to tie them together, look brand new!
Use what you've already got!

Cheers!

DIY- Custom Family Name Art

Make Custom Family Name Art

From Your iPhone or Android

I am obsessed with the Rhonna Designs App on my iPhone (also available on Android).  I have been making family name art, quotes, & Rodan and Fields party invitations for the last couple of months.  You can email them as JPEG files & print them from your computer, I've printed up to an 8x10 & it looked fantastic!  You can also post them on Instagram or Facebook, or text them.  The app is only a couple bucks, & they are constantly adding new design packs, they are about a dollar.  It's so simple!  I am posting a few of my favorites.

Download it, play around with it, & get creative!

DIY - Craft Storage Jars

DIY Craft Storage Jars

As a family of five we eat a lot of pickles, so I buy them by the bulk.  These are great jars, I always hate to throw them away.  I saved our last two along with a small Classico pizza sauce jar, which is also great looking.  I thought these would make excellent office & craft supply storage.  And, they were going in the trash, so it's green, right!?  Reduce, Reuse, & Recycle people.

I recently bought two cans of gold spray paint & have been trying to figure out what in my house I can paint gold (I've painted a credenza & some iron candle sticks too).  I painted the lids to these guys & stuck them on my desk.  Voile, cute & efficient storage!

I cleaned the labels off the jars with hot water, Dawn dish soap, & a magic eraser. I sat the lids on an empty food container, so I could spray the under edge of the lid.

I have been slowly, I mean really slowly, trying to make myself an inspiring & uplifting home office space.  At this point it consists of a little white desk & an awesome Natuzzi sofa (& a bunch of kids toys, including a stage).  I have some floating shelves I want to hang, & a file cabinet I want to paint or cover in contact paper, & of course I want to clear out the kids stuff.  But, for now, it's what I have & I'm trying to make do.

I thought these turned out super cute.  I think I will collect a few more & line a shelf with them!

Oh, So Crafty: Framed Chalkboard

Went with Reduce Reuse Recycle on this Van Gogh Turned Chalkboard (Sorry Vincent)

I got this fancy shmancy plastic gold framed Van Gogh, Cafe Terrace at Night print when I was in high school for $10. I'm not sure why I kept it all these years, but sure glad I did! The print was mounted to particle board & popped in the back of this frame. Like any good DIY'er, I knew this had another life in it!

After a light sanding to the back of the particle board, I coated it with Krylon spray primer, then 3 coats of Rust-Oleum Chalk Board spray paint.
Buy the $4.98 Chalk Board paint here The Home Depot.

I primed the surface by rolling chalk across the entire surface & wiping it clean with a dry cloth.

It's hanging in my kitchen, & I just adore it! My goal is to use this to help me stay on top of weekday meal planning, & to highlight a weekly Bible verse.

I am slightly intimidated by spray paint, but was pretty stoked about my finished product. I may give spray paint another go.

Enjoy!
