Wheat Bread Recipe
I finally have an everyday wheat bread recipe I really like! A few "real" simple ingredients you can toss into your bread maker, let it do all the work, and you reap the warm, fresh, bread that fills your whole house with a Heavenly smell. Mmmmm! We have been making this bread at home regularly for the last year or so. We always eat half the loaf as soon as it comes out, and the rest we cut up for sandwiches and toast. I try to go as organic as I can, but sometimes I just can't get myself to pay two to four times as much for the organic wheat. But, the honey & olive oil are just a pinch more, if that. I will say that mixing the bread flour, which is more finely ground, with the whole wheat flour, makes for a great texture. You can sub regular flour, or use all wheat. Mix it up, see which you like best and let me know!
RECIPE
Wheat Bread: Take 3
Makes 1 Loaf
Equipment Needed:
Electric Breadmaker
Ingredients:
1-1/2 Cup bread flour
1-1/4 Cup wheat flour
1-1/4 Cup wheat flour
1 Cup hot water
1/4 Cup milled flax seed
1/4 Cup olive oil
2 Tbsp honey
2 Tsp yeast
1 Tsp salt
Instructions:
Pour the hot water, yeast, and honey into your bread machine and let it sit for 5 minutes, until it gets bubbly.
Add in the flours, flax seed, and salt.
Turn the machine to the French Bread setting and let it start mixing the ingredients. Slowly pour in the olive oil.
Take it out as soon as the cooling function completes, so that moisture doesn't build up.
Cheers!
